Title
Ornamental Kale Leaf

Description
This leaf had fallen from the ornamental kale in my planter and I watched as the colors and textures kept intensifying and becoming much more interesting. To me, at least. I added textures to further enhance the leaf. Ornamental cabbage and kale are in the same species - Brassica Oleracea, as edible cabbage and kale. Although also edible, they're not as tender or tasty as their edible cousins. Often referred to as flowering cabbage, it is the rosy, purple and/or white leaves that give these plants their color and interest as ornamentals.
They are popular as fall crops because of the colorful, long lasting foliage.

Thanks so much, Joan. Most of the time for me, shooting the image is just the beginning. I know you can relate to that!

Great composition, coloring and texture processing resulted in a stunning digital painting. PS: You portfolio is also very interesting and tightly edited - I liked it a lot. L/V.
